The Fernley Civic Center is nearing completion. The facility is slated to be open to the public Mid May of 07.

For those who want the breakdown:

Basement -- The basement won't be totally empty. The basement will be totally secured and won't be for public access. Initially, the basement will include a computer center (headend), Electrical room, storage for various records, storage for permanent records (including a special vault to be free from environmental & fire issues), storage of any unused office furniture & equipment, and an Emergency Operations Center. The early use of the area will be in a semi-unfinished area.

Expansion -- Based on the original preliminary report dated 8/17/05 (which the final design-build process has modified these numbers a bit) the amounts are as follows:

Remodel existing building -- 7,000 square feet
Mid section of building -- 9,800 s.f.
Legislative/Executive/Administrative/Judicial area, including City Council Chambers -- 9,000 s.f.
Basement - roughly 10,000 s.f..
Total building area top floor (25,800 s.f.) plus basement (10,000) = 35,800 s.f.

After a complete review, refinement, and final approved contract (4/18/06) with United Construction the amount was modified to 39,866 s.f.

The project also includes landscaping and a parking lot addition of 60,000 s.f.
