Love the song, love the band .. but I hate when camera men/directors try and get artsy, Keep it simple and just show the act. I don't care about the bow on her dress, a quick shot or two of the audience is plenty and back up on the super close-ups.
Pardon my vent. I love Dinah.

Is this the Newport Jazz Festival? Looks really similar to a clip of Louis Armstrong from then.

I cannot click the like button enough...this is absolutely splendid. So magical! I love Dinah,...while listening to her, all is right with the world. This is such a wonderful live performance, look at her, she's so happy on that stage. Her magnificent stage presence draws you near, and doesn't let go. The smile at 2:28 was beautiful, cheers to Dinah Washington!

great that you went! doesn't make you an expert on the film though!Or the other people that were there!
The film is quite is obviously several musical events spliced together
for example one of the scenes shows couples dancing - that was not filmed in an auditorium there would not have been room to dance
though there was colour in 58 there wasnt film of the quality or clarity of the crowd shots - look at the grainy stage footage of Washington - that is 1958 film
but hey its a small point

@ Grai 3 (continued) They spent a lot of money making that film which is why it looks so good. I don't know how old you are, but they did have color film and modern camera and film techniques in 1958. It wasn't the stone-age you know.
