self elected caliphs? he was selected AFTER Abu Bakr (may peace be upon) consulted with the best of the sahaba! I don't ever understand how the shia can bash Umar Ibn Khattab (may peace be upon him). If you study the life of Prophet Muhammed you cannot come to ANY conclusion OTHER than Umar was of the best of men! Even non muslim scholars who studied his life have nothing but praise for his actions and ways of life.

Its a shame these days man has become very arrogant. In the 70's Aswan dam was built because man thought he could tame the river and everything would be ok.but now the soil doesn't get replenished by black silt, salt dry's up on the soil leaving salt and so people have to use poisonous pesticides. also the delta is eroding and also some fish are dying in the sea. my lesson was that man thinks he knows everything, but actually everything belongs to Allah and Allah is all wise able of everything.

Narrated Anas: Whenever drought threatened them, 'Umar bin Al-Khattab,used to ask Al-Abbas bin 'Abdul Muttalib to invoke Allah for rain.He used to say,"O Allah! We used to ask our Prophet to invoke You for rain,& You would bless us with rain,&now we ask his uncle to invoke You for rain.O Allah ! Bless us with rain."(1) And so it would rain.
