Billy Connolly is joined by Shetland Fiddler Ally McBain and Author Andrew Greig in a rendition of 'My Dixie Darling' - performed in a tent beside the Loch of The Green Corrie in Assynt, Sutherland, NW Scotland.
The three were taking part in a fishing expedition to this remote location as part of a BBC Documentary celebrating the centenary of the birth of Scottish poet Norman MacCaig, who died in 1996.
I'm from Dixie and I live in north Scotland. Awesome to see Dixie Darling being played up here by such an iconic Scotsman. Great video!

here are some of my favorite quotes from MacCaig
" i don't like man kind, i like jimmy and jenny, and him and her and different people but man kind are a rotten lot"
-when asked about history in an interview
when asked about politicians he mocked they way they use language
"when they say words like.. socialism.. what do they mean by that, they know it begs an emotional respose.. but with no precision on meaning,, poets do that ... they
give the emotional sense and the intellectual sense"
