the is only ice and more water below.....but the ice is 28 inches thick (about 60cm), and the water is 8 to 12 feet deep, (about 2.5 to 3 meters)

The ice is 28 inches thick, the water on the ice is between 10 and 20 inches deep, the water below the ice is 8 to 20 feet deep. This always happens in March when the snow begins to melt, the ice is still good to go, but where the road is and the snow has been removed the water starts to collect. This really freaks out the city folk who come to visit!
