This video describes how to use EcuFlash (http://www.openecu.org/index.php?title=EcuFlash) to flash a map to your Subaru vehicle*. This video applies to all OBD-II Subarus that EcuFlash supports*.

*all model years stated are USDM.

Notes:
- 16-bit ECUs use a flash block jumper in addition to the green test connectors, to grant access for ECU writes. You can buy these at www.tactrix.com or borrow them from an AccessPort owner. 2002 uses a blue plug, and 2003-2005 uses a white plug.
- 32-bit OBD-II ECUs do not require a flash block jumper, only the green test connectors.
- 32-bit CANBUS ECUs do not require green test connectors at all. This circuit is closed by the cable itself as I understand it.

Video Errors:
- The car pictured is a 2003 WRX
- The green test mode connectors are located under the driver's side dashboard, along with the flash block connector (if equipped). The 2005-2006 Legacy GT test connectors are located under the passenger side carpet, on the left side near the center console. Pull back on the carpet to reveal them.
- Other cars' test connectors may be in different locations, please consult your service manual or other users for these locations.

  • so do you just keep the white jumper harness connected at all times?

  • if you have a 02-05 WRX you can keep the jumper connected all the time. just disconnect the green plugs to read/write to the ECU.

  • there is no blue or white jumper on drive by wire cars (2004-2007 STI and 2006-2007 WRX)

  • hey dude, so u use romraider to datalog and ecuflash to reflash the ECUright?

  • yes

  • From where i can download maps for ecu?

  • The switch is uber. I dealt with the lame green test connectors in my 06. I got rear ended at 3000 miles in the 06 so I bought an 07. When I bought the 07, some asshat at one of the dealers or the factory had cut my cut my green test connector blocks off. This forced me to wire the 2 wires to a switch which makes my like muuuuuch easier.

  • Great videos - can you by any chance do a whole tutorial on tuning a subaru yourself with the tactrix cables?

Since it's possible, I'd like to learn how to do a tune without the expense of paying someone to do it...

  • what did you change on the car? just curious what you turned on or off. thanks. 02 wrx

  • hey i have a wrx non sti 2007 what wire is blue or the green?
