A personal project of mine meant as a tribute to my favorite film, Blade Runner.
The whole thing started out as a CG channel contest that took way too long. It then became a training exercise to learn Vray and Thinking Particles. I ended up finishing it in my spare time with the help of a few friends.
I did the 3D modeling of the spinner, blimp and city, texturing, lighting, animation, smoke VFX and compositing.
The spinner smoke FX was achieved with a combination of Fume FX and Thinking Particles. Modeling was done in Softimage XSI and texturing, lighting in 3dsmax with Vray render.
I have to give credit where it's due and I would like to thank my friends who believed in a group effort and helped bring this project together.

Wow, that's amazing! I hate to nitpick though, but the smoke should've been bluish white. The way it is, it looks like the engine needs a tune-up badly. Still, thumbs up.
