Burning Out Stump-With Gasoline

The best way to burn a stump is with a trail of gasoline. Not the best quality though, but still cool.

Did the stump burn completely or did the fire just die down later? I am just asking because i have 5 stumps to have removed or burned and i need to know if the gas trick will completely do the job or not?

This has been known to cause problems, sometimes the roots can literally burn underground for years! A little irresponsible to recommend it on Youtube.

Burning out a stump works well if it has been dry for a while. You don't have to use gas, any fire starter will work. If you can get under a root close to the stump, that's usually a good place to start the fire. Depending on the size and weather, it could smolder for a while, I had one go for a week. You can drill holes to get a better start too. A nice big hole will be left, perfect for a new tree or bush!

How old are the stumps? iI they are still green, (a year or less cut) they will not burn, you might need to rent a stump grinder. if they are decomposing, chop as many openings into it as you can (for air) slicing top to bottom. Then pour on some kerosene (not gasoline) let soak then light. Note: kerosene does not explode like gasoline, it is slow burning.

So what happened when the gas burned off? You had a charred stump. You have to let the stump dry out. chop slices in it with an axe, and soak it in kerosene.
