The Urban Mystic Show Episode 9

The first in a series of videos looking at different proofs for God's existence and the objections raised against those proofs. This one deals with moral relativism and the law of noncontradiction and how there must be an absolute truth.

Passage quoted from "How Quantum Physics may defeat Atheism" by Peter Zöller-Greer. I have found a link to the PDF of this paper which I highly recommend you read.

I may get in trouble with this in later videos when I take a rather dialetheistic stance when talking about omnipotence and noncontingency.

When I talk about other people using logic to convert people I don't have many specific examples marked down. It just seems to be the central theme of the logic videos to try to convert people. If you make videos about logic don't assume I'm singling you out in particular. There is a whole lot of militancy and anger on YouTube and with this series of videos I'm hoping to cut to the heart of the matter free of any flavourings other people may add that overpower the arguments themselves. Admittedly I do get pissed off toward the middle when talking about how intolerant those people are who extol the virtue of tolerance.

  • Thank you for posting this

  • @RP08FootSoldier Thank you for becoming my 130th subscriber. I've waited a long time to reach that number.

  • Dude the music in the background makes it hard to listen to what you are saying it's too loud! or you are too quiet.

  • @austinconant I was unaware there was music, thank you for pointing that out so I could re watch the video. The music is the best part. It's Bach's Overture no. 4, a great piece. I suggest you watch the video again and enjoy it.

  • excellent video dude.

  • To Hopeful71:

    Your argument is FAIL...

    The opposite of

"All dogs..." is "NOT all dogs...",

and not as you stated that "NO dogs..."

    Where did you learn logic??

The principle of "Tertium Non Datur" holds, i.e. if a statement is false, then its opposite is of course true! Thats hypertrivial...

So Zoeller-Greers argumnent is of course completely right.

  • If nothing is absolutly true then you claim (You can not fight...) isn't eihter...

So there is no "If...Then"... to argue with.

Is your own existence absolutly true?

  • Thank you.

  • There are only two possible options. Either absolute truths do not exist or they do. If "no absolute truths exist" is false then the only other choice is "absolute truths exist." That is why it's opposite must be true, because there is no third option.
