Our young rising star singer’s name is 黄佳 (Ung Kia /Ng Gia). The authors and composers use traditional Tiechew words and expression and traditional Chinese musical instruments. You can get pop or rap songs from anywhere, but authentic traditional Tiechew music and songs? I’m afraid, only Tie’ang 潮安 people who has enough sense of their place in Tiechew history and are knowledgeable enough to try to preserve our Tiechew traditions for all Tiechew nang.

潮[tie5]州[tsiu1]歇[hiah4] 后[ao6] 语[gheu2]

歇 read as “hiah4”, it means to rest/pause/stop.

Tiechew humorous/witty expressions, or traditional Chinese humorous expresions in Tiechew dialect. In this form of traditional expressions, the humorous (or “punch line”) expression is delivered after the pause. Ex. “Lao nang tsiak teu kha, tshi e tshi”, Explanation: A toothless elderly is unlikely to eat off the bones of the pig feet, but that won’t stop him/her from wanting to taste that stewed pig feet.
