Dr. Patrick Berger taught at DeSmet Jesuit High School in St. Louis, Missouri from 1994-2011. He taught English and the Irish Studies Course. By the request of a friend who went on the trip to Ireland but couldn't make it to the final class in June of 2003, I video taped it for him. Here is a clip from that class.

Dr. Berger passed away on Monday January 9, 2012. He was a legend at DeSmet, and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the students that had the privilege to attend his class.

  • Dr. Berger was a legend period. Us Patriots were lucky to have had him before he went on to DeSmet. I cannot think of a week that has gone on since graduating in 1989 where I have not told some sort of Dr. Berger story. He made that much of an impact on my life. Godspeed Dr. B - I will drink a "Pepsi" for you happily.

  • I was in his AP English class at Parkway South in 1986-87. Dr. Berger was the embodiment of everything I wanted to be when I became an English teacher.

  • Doc you will never be forgotten. You are one of the reasons I am a teacher today. Rest in Peace knowing you have touched so many lives.

  • He was a legend at Parkway South as well. Many of us former Patriots considered him our hero and mentor as well.

  • A truly gentle, funny, kind, and very smart man. Rest in peace, Patrick.
