Playing Ability Test (PAT) level 1, drill 2, Stroke Straightness.

Set up 3 gates, with each gate equal to 2 ball widths.
Hit the cue ball from the head string thru the gate and back to within two diamonds of the head rail. It is a foul to touch another ball, or any other rails than the head and foot rails.

Perform this set of 3 shots 4 times.

  • why would one set it up 3 times?

  • @kolaas2006 because Consistency is being measured.

  • Why is your tip pointing up after making contact with the cue ball ?

  • @joeygonzo because I was at that time (3 years ago) still learning how to stroke properly! :) but you are right, that is a flaw, which, hopefully, I have corrected now.

  • Yes, but try it. It gets interesting when you try it. Also, remember that this is just level One. It gets lots more interesting in level 2 and 3.

  • Thanks for sharing, Ive been thinking of buying their 3 set program. I think anyone dogging the fundamentals or your video can do us all a favor and just keep it to themselves. If Pro players use this to develop their stroke, aim, stance, positioning and cue ball control then the program must be working. Again, Thanks.

  • one of the biggest problems with this is that unless your playing a professional grade table thats 100% level... the cueball doesn't roll dead straight.

I know that to be true in the majority of all bar tables.

  • ??????????????

  • this is actually a great drill! i teach a couple of people, and I never thought about testing their cueing like this. thank you!

  • Always a good drill but the object balls sort of help in a aid in adjusting here. I'd remove them personally.
