Patterning, like other early math concepts, is easier to explain by showing rather than telling. For more information, visit http://www.learningresources.com/product/teachers/shop+by+subject/math/produc...

  • When I was a teacher, I didn't have much $ for manipulatives. So, I always had to think about how many different ways I could use any manipulative I was considering buying. In other words, I insisted on versatility! These little creepy crawlies can be used for patterning, sorting, probability, insect-themed units, game pieces, measurement, as a way to activate prior knowledge before reading a book on insects, starting a science insect on units, etc.
