March 2001. We embark just south of the Ponte Rialto spanning the Grand Canal, then thread the canal network and emerge out into the lagoon. Lot'so fun! I liked the old guy waving the tourists off.

  • I did that same trip courtesy of the Rialto Hotel. Wonderful experience - nice to re-live it, thanks!

  • Glad you liked it. Our hotel provided the boat, it could not have gone better. I thought we would be taking the #1 bus. Instead, we got this wonderful cruise.

  • Yes, I keep Peroni in the fridge. Best while cooking a few prime Irish steaks on the barbie!

  • Yes. It was a nice surprise for us too (part of a free visit to the glass factory). Murano was a kind of low key version of Venice. Had a nice meal in a less touristy restaurant out there. A bit strange taking the public 'bus' back in the dark.

  • yeah Venice is a lot different from where I live in Maine! that's why we went there - you should consider a trip over there, a short hop for you. Know this: there is excellent beer in Italy, it ain't only wine. Peroni is everywhere, just ask for birra nationalle, and they will serve it to you.
