10,000 Maniacs on Real George's Back Room 1987

This interview featuring 10,000 Maniacs keyboardist Dennis Drew was filmed on the morning of one of two opening slots for Suzanne Vega. It was also the day of my first concert promotion in Troy,NY and I was tour manager of the Maniacs.The interview was shot on the back porch of Sue & Mike Peacock's home in Clifton Park just outside of Albany. I was a boarder in their house and they kindly invited the entire band to stay for a few days to save money on hotels. Rob got a hotel room as he was allergic to cats. Michael Eck does a great job of asking the right questions about the history of the band and the upcoming LP - the one which put them on the map. There is a great rare shot of the band, with John Lombardo, performing "Daktari" at Duck Soup, a small but hip club on Lark Street in Albany.

Hey Bern, thanks for the compliment, I have had an interesting life and hopefully it is not over! These days I am putting together projects for organizations that help people here in the US. I want the rest of my life to be "paying it forward" but I want to help people here in our own land.

yes 288 was on Lark in Albany, Char and Dave left to open ducksoup in Rentler. George should have all the backrooms on You tube many great shows and crowd shots that at very memerable. Love to see Cowboy junkie interview
