Very underrated song. The drum work really sets it off along w/ Bono's vocals. Deserves much more airplay

i agree completely, bono was just so raw back then....i used to listen to this song late at nite on my walkman (it was one of the first cassette tapes i ever bought), and it would move me in and thru some real deep parts of myself....tonight i am rediscovering this song after not hearing it for years, and it still deeply affects me. one of my favorite songs of all time....

This song is timeless. One of U2's best tracks IMO. Actually this album is ever so close to Joshua Tree for U2's best

God came towards me once in a dream. He said Elvis Presley and America was his favorite song.

@thyczko2 I think one person said this song was simply made when reversing the sound of A Sort of Homecoming. Bono was looking at a picture of Elvis and sang along to this. U2 at the time wasn't pleased with this track, but this is honestly my favorite U2 song. Gives me such a rare feeling.

This is the kind of song you can put on repeat and sing for hours at a time. Absolutely, brilliant.

my sister bought this LP the week it was released .The morning after I could hear strange music (this song ) coming from her room as we were getting ready for school . I asked her what the hell is that . Knowing I Love Elvis She said its called Elvis Presley and America . At first I didn't get it . But by the time I bought the tape the following week I knew Bono had my reverence for him . and made me an instant U2 fan
