@ThePeckerwood310 Music doesnt have to be complicated to be good, music that brings u certain level of emotion is good, its all about personal tastes, also the layer of this song quite complex if you can hear it...

@ThePeckerwood310 The first song I heard from them was Von, think it was more than 10 years ago... I didn't see any Sigur Ros video until 2004-2006 when youtube and sites like it became popular... They are artists... not just musicians. And art it's not for everyone... If you hear carefully you skipped like 5 more instruments. I've seen this song in particular give chills to many people without show them the vid. I recomend you to watch their documental Heima.

@ThePeckerwood310 It's not the "techniques" or the simplicity, it's what you do with it. I don't know what you hear out of this, but I hear something sublime, calming, beautiful. And the fact that they want us to forget what the words mean only to have us focus on what the vocals add to the music only makes it much more amazing. It's not good music just because of what you play, but because of its potential to be much more than just a tune made of "piano and like 4 keys".

@ThePeckerwood310 Your definition of good music is irrelevant, so is mine. Music cannot be labeled as good or bad. For me, this music represents sadness, loss, enduring a hard period in life, even imagining happy people unaware of a tough future and when it reaches 4:40 it culminates, making me imagine some sad event, the tip of this iceberg which is the world. This is how everyone should feel about music. It's an experience involving imagination and emotions.

This video makes me want to cry. I can actually imagine a future like this for kids someday. Somehow it's all the more heart wrenching that it seems like the kids are ignorant of the state of the world, as if this is how it's always been for them.

I don't know what's more chilling and beautiful--the song or the video.
