Starwarsgalactica asked if I was going to build any crushing robots.

I built one which used gears to move the "crushing" arm but the moment it came into contact with anything the gears would slip and grind against each other. Not good - this is how you break gears! So I tried the more obvious choice. Took the Actuators out of Mayhem and placed one in this new robot and... so far so good! Whether or not a Crusher really works in battle is yet to be discovered, but it will feature in Series 4 and hopefully we'll find out then...

Whiplash was the favourite newcomer from Series 3. In Series 4 it returns, entirely rebuilt from scratch - expect the weapon blade. The design of last years' was flawed in that even if extra arms had been added to the top of Whiplash (should it get flipped) it would not have been able to run upside-down. Therefore I took them off altogether. Whiplash was flipped and scraped the ground before hopping into the pit. This time although there is no chance of being invertable I am using an untested drive system - pulleys (lego's elastic bands).

Check out the news update on my website, take the poll and see pictures of new robots!

  • where do you get the gears for the actuators?? what numbered part?

  • @TheMokamola 6589 and 32198

  • dude, i never knew that whiplash used rubber bands forthe drive, this is the only vid of yours i hadnt seen. do rubber bands work? they would just slip, right?

  • @TheMokamola

Actually the lego green rubber bands aren't bad - it drove fine, I can't remember why I removed them, but they ended up on Overdrive and again, not bad, but there is the potentiol for them to come off. But no slip...

  • wow, the 2 recharcheble batteries are really expensive, i´ve seen them at bricklink: one of them costs 45.00 dollar, do you bought them there?

  • The price makes me cry :'(

Yes, I got them through bricklink as it's cheaper than through the lego shop. Althoguh pricey, I reccommend as there's many advantages!

  • @ochayedonald ok thnks but what about the mounting brackets for the actuators?

  • @ochayedonald oh now i see. actually i tried it after you replied on the big bang/robopocolypse, and it works great! also, i see that you create your spinning bars by attaching three or so rectangular pieces, right? after I post my first battle, ill show post another vid showing you how to make a simpler, but VERY failsafe, bar - the one i use for robopocolypse
