Note to self: do not stick your finger in there.

I have the same blower on my 95 Miata.
With the smaller pulley.
The extra power on the low end with no lag can be frightening when finding a place you can really wring the thing out.
My 95 will pass anything and actually gets the same gas milege as my 92. Although the 95 needs tires more often. Tires from Tire Rack. com.

@gearheadd318 it's for a miata it boosts almost 50% over stock power so it's good enough

Its cool to see the gusts of a supercharger, but isn't it a bit small?
-
hah 5 bux! thats sweet.
...and that was to replace with a new unit. but if you have ever seen a v10 supercharged jag they are a pain in the ass to do anything. but its just a ford with some flash.

@swich69, if you look at my comment from 2 years ago I explain what was wrong, as far as the rebuild, I had sent it back to the mfg, so other then saving up $700 I don't have any tidbits of wisdom on rebuilding it.

yep i had to replace the super charger on a newer jag and it looked and sounded similar. 1800 from factory for just the blower no plenums or gaskets nothin. not to mention 9 cake ass hours of labor. : ) i think it took more like 7 and a half. never did one before.

Was that to rebuild it, or just to replace it? The removal/replacement was easy (15 min) Of course this is an aftermarket unit and not a factory blower, my dads 3.8 Olds supercharger would take hours to remove. (I fear that day) but I did get a M62 for his car out of a junkyard for $5, no lie.

FYI - the rotor tips always look like this on the Eaton M45 - like a serrated knife blade. You don't have to be concerned until the coating is coming off the middle of the lobes. As far as the noise, it could be a bad coupler, low oil in the nose, or possibly a bad bearing. New couplers are cheap and easy to install (probably part of the last problem). You can get replacement bearings pretty easily too, and any machine shop can press them in.

Everything was bad, even the bypass was held together with a plastic zip-tie, from the noise it was making, it sounded like a crank bearing going bad, until I popped the hood and located the noise I thought I was looking at a bottom end job.. In retrospect it would have been cheaper.
