@DiggerDave1968 No problem, don't give up on this hobby, it's hard at first but when you use it for a while it gets alot easier. Not sure what your problem is, could i see your .blend?
There is another way. If you trace the outline of a reference picture and then spin it you can create a very realistic glass.

Standard-definition television (SDTV):
480i (NTSC uses an analog system of 486i split into two interlaced fields of 243 lines)
576i (PAL, 720×576 split into two interlaced fields of 288 lines)
Enhanced-definition television (EDTV):
480p (720×480 progressive scan)
576p (720×576 progressive scan)

@DiggerDave1968 Ok your problem is the "aspect ratio" i suspect you used a blender preset, my advice, DON'T.
Instead just type in the resolutions of what you want.
Also you'll find the aspect ratio in the same area where you select what resolution and stuff.
