Jarboe
"Lavender Girl"
out of 1995 album "Sacrificial Cake".

Lyrics:
There's patchouli, spanish blossom, frankincense, and rose
I'm lavender, lavender
There's cedarwood, champa, musk, and myrrh
I'm lavender, lavender
I was smoldering then you breathed deep
May your soul be free now my smoke is sweet
There's sandalwood, lilac, magnolia
I'm lavender, lavender
Ylang ylang, jasmine, amber
I'm lavender, lavender
I was smoldering then you breathed deep
Now our soul is free and our smoke is sweet
Lavender, lavender

  • Only Jarboe could make a beautiful song with lyrics only about flowers and incense...and still make it sound somehow very evil. In a good way, you understand. And yes, the live version is amazing.

  • The version of SWANS ARE DEAD is also amazing.

  • hey my last name is jarboe so thumbs up

  • My god ! I feel like I was Bouddah, but I also feel like I was the elephant man. Thanks Jarboe for that unique feeling. :p

  • WOW, beautiful.

  • @TheWatrosFly to be mad at everything single christian for something like that is ridiculous.

  • @LicoriceLain Unless one is religiously or morally opposed to a religion based on what one believes to be "immoral" principles. For instance, I despise Christian music because I believe the idea of organized Christian religion is why I can't enjoy many of my hobbies such as use of cannabis and assorted other hallucinogens without fear of persecution/arrest. Not to mention there are infinite ways to achieve "varied experiences," the paths we choose are what makes us individuals.

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • beautiful, as ever

  • @theorangebox999 You should embrace it. Varied experiences = more complete life course.

  • @theorangebox999 I don't think she is a satanist. A lot of the dark/extreme elements of her music come from her upbringing with many Southern cultural traditions like serpent handling, street performers, superstitions and storytelling.

  • @LicoriceLain I'm mostly open minded when it comes to art and literature and pretty much everything else, but I just get this dark feeling when I hear satanic stuff.
