If our mind is disturbed, we do not see things as they really are, hence, we may be involved in wasteful conduct, make wrong judgement, etc., etc. This is a guide to anapana. The focus is to observe breathing. Here, a realization may be gained in that the sensation from breathing, in fact, reflects the movement of consciousness as well as unconsciousness.

Because of our mind habit, we may be unaware of what is happening because of our ignorance, or self-centeredness, e.g., craving or aversion. In other words, we may be unaware who we really are, what we do, and why. So, what do we do?

By practicing anapana and developing the awareness of what is happening in our mind and body, we discover the path to gain insight/wisdom/panna/prajna. Such realization is like opening an eye of wisdom, or a third eye. Or it is like developing a "mirror mind," know who we really are, and live our life with unfaltering awareness and equanimity.

It is a good news. But, the work, which is mere observation of what is happening in us with quiet mind, has to be done by each individual. Books or discussion cannot do the job; hence the importance of the practice.

If you are a beginner, you may familiarize yourself with the technique/practice. If you are an experienced practitioner, you may re-confirm certain basic principles and discover new insight.

As you wish, you may continue, or stop at certain point in the video and come back later. Since it may take time and energy to "unlearn" our negative mind habit, and discover "the way," or "art of living," remember that the repetition (acquiring the good discipline) is the mother of skill.

Sit comfortably, straighten your back, and close eyes. Let's begin. Good luck! May all beings be happy! - Kio
