Wynton Marsalis w/ Igor Butman Quartet - Donna Lee - Lviv, Ukraine

Friday, 3 June 2011 - Wynton played Miles' "Donna Lee" to open his set with the Igor Butman quartet at the Alpha Jazz Festival, Lviv, Ukraine. The video is a little shaky in spots, but Wynton was at his virtuoso best and I hope you enjoy it.

If you feel a need to criticize Wynton for "establishment jazz" or whatever, save it; we've all heard it ad nauseam. We're blessed to have Mr. Marsalis and his horn among us. Think a little bit deeper on it: this is the music that unites us, getting us past the bs and toward the truth. This music, this level of virtuosity, is finally coming to the post-soviet space and the world becomes a better place.

If you want to criticize something, criticize my shaky camerawork.

Eventhough I admire all kinda of sax players... And there are many extraordinaire of them.. Its a curious thing that nowadays ma two favorite Sax Players are White. Chris Potter & Igor Butman...
