Great warmup volleyball drill to get your team moving.

First, start with Tempo 3. Nice, high passes. It's very simple. Pass and follow your pass. When you're following your pass, you must take the right side (to avoid collision).

Next, move it down to Tempo 2. It should speed them up a little and create a little more of a hustle.

Finally, Tempo 1. Low passes keep the girls moving quickly and ball control must be at its peak.

In a 5 minute warmup period, the coach can choose the amount of time spent with each Tempo. Yell "3, 2, 1. 3, 2, 1" or switch it up a little to keep them on their toes (or to keep their ears perked up).

5 minutes will get their blood flowing... but they'll ready for the next progression, which is Active Pepper. Check out the video.

  • For the temp 3 example, they need to learn how to pass with the ball infront of them. They are lazy and passing from the side. Tell them to take that extra step to get infront of the ball. Other than that, great warmup. I have to do this all the time. (:

  • @SmexxiProductionZ That's not laziness. it's a style. we teach passing on the left.

  • there is another way just like that.. you do the same rotation like the girls in the video were doing but you peper. peppering is pass, set, then spike down to the girls arms.. and she bums it back and the next sets and so forth.. and it gets you to really work and focus and you get better at aim and being smooth with the ball.

  • @Xxglitterstarx Funny you mention that because we have that video too! Look for Active Pepper.

  • they dont need to run in a circle its a passing drill it supposed to focus on the passing not running around you can do that later.

  • @fliptthescript Haha. Yeah. I'll take the word "active" out of the name of the drill and toss the ball straight to them, then watch them improve right before my eyes!
