Take a look-see and find out what all the wheeled hoopla is all about!

Here's an U.S. Army Command & General Staff College School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) report by Infantry officer, Major William Sutey on the need for cross-country MOBILITY (XCM) from M113 Gavin light TRACKED tanks to improve LIGHT INFANTRY FORCE mobility, protection and firepower. READ IT.

  • EM-50 Urban Assault vehicle looks bad ass! lol.

Although it probably wouldn't work, like the idea of having shields guard the wheels though. Nice idea.

  • Wheel covers don't fix the basic immobility and vulnerability of wheeled trucks.

  • "Truck (Noun): Any of various wheeled frames used for transporting heavy objects."

In the context of the Stryker, I almost fell off my chair laughing when I read that.

  • wheels are gay.

  • You believe wrong. Look up CUCV.

  • I don't believe there is any Chevy C-10s in the army.

  • Target! Amen! That's why I hated being in arty. All the damn trucks. Airborne infantry - we had 1 Hummer, and it was rarely used in the field, and didn't go to combat (we stole a Chevy C-10 for that...lol).

  • That's the Lost in Space tv theme.

I'm not a big fan of the Stryker. It lacks amphibious capabilities, among others. A tracked vehicle is going to have better mobility over a greater range of terrain than a wheeled vehicle.

  • Well put. In combat, trucks are targets usually because they're carrying supplies, but on top of that they are usually not well-protected and/or well-armed. Sounds an awful lot like the Stryker...
