Patients across the nation are now being told by CVS/Caremark that they may only receive their meds through mail order or at a retail CVS. Patients who have established a long, trusting relationship with their personal pharmacist are suffering. Further, the move by Caremark seems to violate the terms set froth by the FTC for a firewall to be created between the two companies when the merger took place.
Caremark mail order has a very advanced filling system which catches everything from drug interactions to allergies (as reported). Each prescription filled at a Caremark filling facility is checked by a pharmacist more than once (for verification of count/drug/dosage etc). I agree change is difficult. However that is no reason to pass off responsiblity for your own healthcare to someone else (ie: local pharmacist). CVS has an on call pharmacist 24/7 for any questions or concerns.

PBM's are called such bc they MANAGE Rx benefit plans. Each benefit plan is designed by the company who actually provides them (ex:school district).Caremark only helps the provider determine the cheapest, most cost effective way to create a pharmacy plan-then they are paid to manage that plan.MANY providers choose to REQUIRE mail order after x # of local fills bc it is cost effective. In the end, even Caremark has to ask permission to avoid mail order. Place the blame where it belongs.

I'm kinda of disgusted with this video. CVS CAREMARK does NOT force their patients, to obtain their medications strictly through mail order, their plan that they sign up for, indicates if they have any point of sale limitations. While I understand the connivence of going to a local pharmacy, to be quite honest many people cant offered these prescriptions, what CVS Caremark does is help reduce the cost of their meds and provides their members knowledge about their benefits.Get your facts straight.
