This is the great aria "Qual guerriero in campo armato" by Riccardo Broschi, originally composed to display the vocal wonders of his brother Carlo, the famous castrato "Farinelli" who lived in the 18th century.
Vivica Genaux sings this terrific masterpiece of rapid vocalization with a supreme command of vocal technique. I recently listened to Miss Genaux singing this aria live and i can assure you that she gave me goose-bumps from the beginning to the end! enjoy!

Eine grottenschlechte Aufnahme, leider.
Aber ein wunderbares Beispiel dafür, was uns mit dem Niedergang des Bel-Canto und der variationsreichen Aufführungspraxis der Aria de Baule verloren gegangen ist.

What a remarkable difference between this voice and that of a Baroque singer such as Maria Cristina Kiehr. Kiehr sings with voci bianché, whereas Genaux has a very pronounced vibrato. Quite an "acrobatic" aria that, I'm sure, is very difficult to sing.

This is an aria written by Riccardo Broschi that was used by Vivaldi in is pasticcio opera Bajazet. It is not a Vivaldi aria, it was only used by him.
