On October 11th 2011 (10/11/11), Janet Kuypers introduced (as the host of the open mic) the open mike night of poetry and music at the Cafe (5115 North Lincoln Ave., on Tuesday nights starting at 8:30 - 8:45 pm). Because this was a mini-feature night for all open mike poets at the Cafe (there was noscheduled feature this night at the Cafe), Janet Kuypers also started the evening, after welcoming everyone to the Cafe, by reading accepted poems to the two literary magazines she edits and published through Scars Publications (http://scars.tv) that werre published this month (in October 2011), "Down in the Dirt" magazine (http://scars.tv/dirt) and "cc&d" magazine (or "Children, Churches and Daddies" magazine, http://scars.tv/ccd). The "Down in the Dirt" poems she read included "The Breeze" by Denny E Marchall, "Symbols Manifest" by Kelsey Threatte (which is also the title, "Symbols Manifest", of the 6"x9" ISBN# book available for on line sale at amazon.com of this issue), "the Illegitimate Furniture" by Ron Richmond, "Loving at Arms Length in theen
Spaces of the Day" by Brian Looney, "Optimism" by Joseph Hart, and "the Necromancer" by Corry O'Neill. The cc&d poems she read included "Inside the mirror" by Mel Waldman, "Daisy" by Michael A Rodriguez, "Books and Blood and a Biker" by David S. Pointer, "Allegory for America" by Michael Ceraolo, "My Hologram Life" by Kyrsten Bean, and the cc&d Kelley Jean White MD poem "We used to watch you from the teachers lounge".
