Ernie Goodman planted his fist into a punching bag with all his force.
"They say I'm good at boxing now so I can do boxing when I go to Brockton High," said Goodman, 14, who is set to enter his freshman year at the high school next month.
He was among city youths training Wednesday at Cappiello Bros. Boxing and Fitness in memory of Rocky Marciano on South Main Street during the final week of the Brockton After Dark program.
This year, the program served about 1,400 youths in July and August at 10 sites across the city, said Koren Cappiello, program director.
The nighttime activities, which are free for participants, ranged from basketball and soccer to ballroom dancing and acting. Some sites served food and beverages.
