My son is now 12yo. He uses every horsepower out of his original 6.5 HP engine drifting and ruining the grass around the house. He is now ready for more power and accelaration...and some time well spent with his dad. Our 2011 summer project was to install a brand new 9HP on his kart...Here is the result.

that thing hammers!! if you were to put say a 15hp engine how much would need to be modified?

A chain tensionner would have to be added. The engine shaft would not be centered with the rear swing arms pivot point. I would rater consider 2 of 6.5 HP side by side. 2 clutchs and chains pulling on the same shaft. That would be very cool.
