Andrew Keen, author of Cult of the Amateur, gives an unashamedly sceptical talk at the Social Media Research conference. Keen argues that social media is in fact not social at all, and is in fact making us more isolated and individualistic than ever.

  • I, too, like the comparison to death. But I'm not convinced this video tells us anything new about social media.

  • Sorry, but I strongly disagree, Social Media doesn't make Web 2.0 irrelevant. Without the Internet as a platform (Web 2.0), then social media remains trapped within its walled gardens.

I do agree that social media and culture convergence are like death. You may not like the thought, but it exists and we all must face what it means for us and the companies we represent.
