The Elements Unearthed Project documents the history, sources, mining, refining, uses, and hazards of the chemical elements and industrial materials. Teams of students, scientists, engineers, and historians are creating video episodes of how the elements are used in their communities which are uploaded to YouTube and iTunes for the use of anyone interested in chemistry. This episode is Part A of the Project Rationale, where project director David V. Black explains the theoretical background, goals, and objectives of this project.
