  • go on playing with your r/c cars

  • Cool. I used to have a 1991 Buick Park Avenue. Can you post some 0-max speed video, like you did with the Impala? I'd love to hear the 3.8 pull and see it's top speed.

  • new vids online!

  • Man, the 3800, what a freakin' engine... It made Wards list of the 10 Best Engines of the 20th Century and I totally agree. I wish America would make 'em all like this.

If you want a fantastic, cheap used car with a great engine that will run forever, find an old, well maintained Park Ave in the 100K/mi range with the 3800 engine. The KBB values for these totally don't reflect the service lives you can reliably expect to get out of them with good maintenance.

  • i have a 97 park ave its awesome

  • Some mills are famously resilliant. I understand this is one of them.

  • sorry

  • @amsTsi

You should watch this vid of a Park Avenue 3.8 V6 accelerating. Doesn't sound like a moped to me!

    watch?v=bxv-jAiHbYY

In this vid, the engine is revved while the gearbox is in neutral. The engine doesn't have to pull or deliver power. That's why it sounds like this in this vid. Besides, the man in this vid barely touches the throttle. Could rev much further and longer.

All car engines sound different when you rev them in neutral instead of actually accelerating the car.

  • I have a 98 i love it

  • @shaikhdishgan1 455 is better? Yeah, if you can afford 8mpg highway...

  • @Phonologie This is true, but to my knowledge the US automakers didn't utilize the I6's potential in many vehicles. The 3800 is a pretty solid engine though.

  • @whiteymx6 Gm=Junk, huh? So... that's why the 3.8l V6 was on Motor Trend's list of top 10 engines of all time?

  • sounds good.. wish my 94 lesabre had that intake manifold. mine happens to be plastic. wtf gm?
