PS.There's a few pilots that would refuse to let me handsignal them. They aren't sure how many fingers I am holding up. :D

Great video! I made a few time lapse videos of me and my deckhand fiddlin' around with a small 45 yard tug, yanking rock barge through a bridge here on the Puget Sound.

Awesome! Watching this video made me miss being out on the water =[ I used to work for ACL running the ICW along the gulf.

Were they not in such a hurry that you could one at a time the barges?I'm also a bit curious if your deckhand was handsignalling you or had a radio. His own or company issue? Count yourself lucky that you can still write out your log entries instead of making a computer entry while steering the boat. Some things are much easier that way.

I couldn't take them all at the same time since the line boat needed special numbers, one of which was covered up by another barge. I had to get the lower two out of the way first to give me a spot to place the extra barge the boat didn't need.
The deckhand has a company issued handheld VHF radio, but hand signals are still used as a backup in case of a radio malfunction.
No computer in my wheelhouse :)
Paper log sheet is still the simplest way to keep track of everything!
