  • Edgar and "Charlie" were appearing in a series of one-reel theatrical shorts for Warner Bros.-Vitaphone at the time, a few years before they became successful radio stars. As for Candice, Edgar became concerned when she was a child about how "real" Charlie appeared to her when they had conversations with each other. He later recalled asking her, "Isn't it wonderful how Charlie can talk?". She said, "Yes it is, Daddy- but you do move your lips a little".

  • I can only imagine how weired it would've been having Candice ask you to come home & meet the family ... "uh, hi Charlie" ... perhaps having dad give you the third degree through a puppet might've been cool ... but then again, for Candice, just about anything would've been cool.
