i just bought my first mac and it's loaded with lion. It does not have the macintosh hd icon in the upper right corner and I can't find that anywhere..... This is a greater challenge than I expected!

Best tip for new mac users would be, return it to the store and buy something not loaded with hardware lockins and limited API for half the price.
