Undocumented Youth Arrested in Philadelphia

Jessica Hyejin Lee and Tania Chairez, two undocumented youth from Pennsylvania, were arrested by the Philadelphia Police today after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Field Office refused to respond and meet their demand. Before their arrest, Jessica and Tania entered the ICE Philadelphia Field Office building and declared their undocumented status, presenting a letter to demand the release of Miguel Orellana Garcia. Miguel is a DREAM Act eligible youth who has been detained for 8 months away from his two sons and fiancee. As undocumented immigrants, we must stand up and fight back together for undocumented youth, like Miguel. An attack on one of us is an attack on ALL of us. I admire the courage of all those kids. I am an activist, but I am a US citizen and don't have much to lose. But these young people are risking their lives to make this country better for everyone. We owe it to them to hear their message.

Did Jessica H. Lee tell BMC that she was not a U.S. citizen when she applied for admission and when she applied for financial aid? Did the admissions board know her status when she was accepted? If she lied about her nationality and if she took financial aid from BMC knowing that she was doing so fraudulently then she is not only illegal but also unethical. BMC must expel her and for fraudulently taking money she and her parents should be sent back to Korea. She can finish her studies in Korea.
