Apparently that's the way it's officially pronounced. Check the article at machinima|.|org -
"Machinima (muh-sheen-eh-mah) is filmmaking within a real-time, 3D virtual environment, often using 3D video-game technologies."
Note also that the Wiktionary listing for 'machinima' states that the etymology is a blend of two words: 'machine' and 'cinema'.

Assuming that 89% figure is based on fact rather than speculation, even if most mispronounce a word, one should not be ridiculed for using the proper pronunciation.
