Part 2 of my Advanced Automatic Wheat Harvesting System, now compatible with Patch 1.5! This Tutorial is all about making a flood gate to use on your automatic field, though it can also be used for many other purposes--and even with lava!

My original video can be found here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y226Lr7m5L8

Part 1, Automatic Wheat Feilds, can be found here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ip4ux21sJw

The original design is by Zomb13 in the minecraft forums:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1020&t=226827
(His design does not work with 1.5)

===1.5 Update===
I have updated the design, and the video, to work with 1.5, however instead of recording and editing a whole new video, I've selectively inserted clips describing the changes for 1.5. This means there may be portions of the video where it shows the old design, or old boat bouncing--you've been warned!

The original outdated 1.4 video I've made it unlisted, so it won't show up in my channel feed. But you can still find it, for whatever reason you want to watch it, here:

===Picture Diagrams===

New Redstone Diagram:

There is a gap in the middle of the diagram that signifys an 11-block stretch. Just place 11 repeaters, or a long string of redstone, as indicated.

Hopefully the quality of the video was worth the wait, as well as worth the length (and the stupid 1.5 breakages)! But I did the entire machine in one video *Cough, two*, so I'm pretty happy--hope you enjoy. Sorry for the delay, just lives been really frustrating/crazy for me the last week or so and I've just been worked dead it feels :P

Do share if you like it, and especially share pictures or videos or anything else of what you made with this! If you need help, I might be able to help (but troubleshooting something like this isn't always easy) so be sure to be descriptive in your problem--and TRIPLE check that you did everything I did in my video, in the order I did it, without disrupting anything on accident.

After I wake from the coma's worth of rest I'll need, as well as time off to play with 1.5 (This wheat farm fiasco has consumed my minecraft life for WEEKS--and the 1.5 changes consumed another couple days argh), I'll do a last followup tutorial about indicators, overides, wiring up the control room, and a full demonstration, and whatnot. Maybe answer some common questions/problems people encounter if I have time.

If you enjoyed it, I'd really appreciate it if you could maybe show a bit of it to me. Comments and likes go a long way, and subbing and sharing go even farther! I try to respond back, and I do read EVERY comment and enjoy and love them (especially the good ones). Thanks again for the support!

===Subscriber's Share Section===
As always, I want to see what you guys can do with this, and see your completed structures. So send pictures, videos, postings, whatever and share back with me. Lets be a minecraft community.

  • How To Do This With Pistons

    Step 1 Put lever in wall

    Step 2 Put redstone torch on the block the lever is on, but so it isnt visible.

    Step 3 Put redstone all; the way to the piston

    Step 4 Go back to the beginning

    Step 5 find where the power stops(switch lever on first)

    Step 6 replace the last powered redstone with a redstone repeater

    step 7 Keep on repeating step 6 till you get to the piston

    Hope this helps! :D Thumbs Up for People Who dont know how to do this(its really simple)

  • On this part, build the stone around the hole that you left open. Once you do that, make 2 pistons and make it so one is next to hole, and one is 1 block away from it. Then put a block next to the one that is 1 block away. Wire the two pistons to a button each, then build up where your water will flow down from. After doing this you can close it off if you want to, but it doesnt have to be closed. This is how i did it since the gravel gets destroyed, and it takes alot less time.

  • Why cant you just remove and put the water with a bucket?

  • All you need now is a sticky piston, some redstone, and a lever xD For the gate

  • Really? 30 minutes to make that lol! just do a piston gate XD you can do it like in 1 min.

  • so you rtelling me i have to destroy everything i just did with the boats to do that?

  • FOR EVERYONE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE GRAVEL:

    /watch?v=JPxPrm4rJTQ

    It only takes a few mins to make and works perfectly

  • @Etherel15 my gravel breaks help plz :/

  • Wow wdf on the boat part when I place my gravel it breaks. Help plz?

  • Hey man, I LOVE your tutorial. However, I noticed there is no way to follow this video after v1.7.

    I have developed a VERY easy system for using pistons to do this, and it fits in with the first video's design.

    I will have a video of it up shortly

  • Can u put a video together on how pistons are used with this harvesting system?
