foster had one of the top 10 acts in the 1960's-1970's. at this point, he should have canned the drunk bit and just told the joke straight. it was good enough on its own... oh, but the vanity of performers....

@hfelton No, this is MANY years after. Foster normally doesn't tell lengthy jokes so he was simply concentrating more on the story rather than over doing it as his then very well established and famous drunken character personality.

This must hve been before he honed the drunk act. He was hesitant here. On the Dean Martin Roasts he often stole the show from the supposed Kings of Comedy.

When I was young I remember the Dean Martin Roasts!! They were the best and the legendary comics on the dais were awesome! Brooks always had the greats in tears, he was so funny. This is a great joke.
