  • sure that may be the hottest recorded day on earth, but the real hottest day on earth was june 17th 1859 in the city of goleta california. the only record we have from that day is from a navy vessel which recorded 133 degrees. but that was 50 miles out to sea, so the actual temperature on land was around 150 degrees. people reported birds falling out of the sky, livestock were literally melted into the ground, and crops were vaporized and no one knows what caused it.
