In August and September 2011 Momus worked in Osaka on a private commission from veteran Japanese music critic Agi Yuzuru to create a piece of music related to the writer Robert Louis Stevenson. The resulting piece, an interpretation of Stevenson's Samoa years conveyed by tone colour alone, is a forty-minute sonata which will appear in due course as a limited-edition CD released by Agi's Nu-Things label, backed by Nakamura Yasuyuki from Studio Warp.

As I watched/listened to this piece, my daughter, who is 2 years old, peered over my shoulder and commented: 'clever clogs'.
