This sarcophagus was founded in the necropolis of Sidon (today Lebanon). The extremely ornate Alexander Sarcophagus, believed to be prepared for Alexander the Great, is among the most famous pieces of ancient art in the Archeology Museum in Istanbul, Turkey.

  • those turkeys stole lebanon's priceless artifact. order it's return, those heathens.

  • @SirianKings Conquering the Persian empire, and never been beat is just 2 of the reasons why Alexander is considered great, and rightly so.

  • Taking it where the Sun don't shine, and mindlessly invading others makes one "great"?

Europeans to this day still cry about the Ottoman rule, so why praise a guy who did just the same?

  • That is so awesome. I wish I could go there

  • its gorgeous!!

  • I'd love it if you could post a video of the Sarcophagus of the Mourning Women found in the same room. You can see it in the background at 0:23. I was in Istanbul on a cruise last June and didn't visit this great museum. Now, I'm kicking myself. Thanks again for the video.

  • it's amazing!
