I understand what Scott and John are doing.If they'd started releasing new studio albums under the Thin Lizzy moniker I would be P.O'd. But those guys are trying to do whatever they can to keep P.L and the Thin Lizzy legacy moving along and flying high. There is a method behind the madness.

I do agree that Lizzy is not Lizzy without out Phil, however, the current 'Thin Lizzy' is meant to be a dedication and tribute to Phil and Thin Lizzy. In an interview Phil was asked how he would like Lizzy to be remembered and he replied "by all the great guitarist's the band had". I do wish Downey stayed with them though then it would be more like Lizzy. But still in way they are honouring what Phil wanted.

I saw lizzy a few times with Phil and in recent years saw the gorham/sykes get up! Lets face it sykes is an arse who seems to see fit to ruin those legendary tracks with his heavy metal style, and those nasty sounding squeals added everywhere!

I'm a big Thin Lizzy fan but Lizzy died when Phil died. Would you want to see The Police without Sting. "Sorry. Sting couldn't make it tonite. A pile of money fell on him. We got the singer from Night Ranger filling in." Or Queen without Freddie. You want to hear Paul Rodgers singing Queen songs? I don't get it. Phi's voice IS Lizzy, kids. Souful, powerful, strong, great. Anything else is just a cover band playing in front of Hooters. True fans stay far away. Listen to the records instead.

You could say the same thing about Alice in Chains....they are not really Alice in Chains without Layne Staley! BUt the new singer is doing an awesome job and the current stuff is amazing...the sound is still there are they are as awesome as they ever where!! RIP Layne and Phil

If you don't like the current incarnation of Thin Lizzy don't go to their concerts or buy their live discs. I saw a Thin Lizzy tribute band about ten years ago. I think they were called Vagabonds. I would rather see a Thin Lizzy tribute band than the aggregate who currently tour under the Thin Lizzy moniker. I am a little surprised that they earn enough money to continue. I can't imagine there is much demand for a Thin Lizzy without their most important member.

I don't see what the problem is. Why shoulldn't a living musician continue to make a living off songs he co-wrote? Why shouldn't he continue to perform if he's still able to do so? And why shouldn't folk like me, who were unfortunate enough to have been born too late too see Lynott on stage, not at least see the surviving band members perform?

I was privileged to have seen the current "Thin Lizzy" last January, and wouldn't have given it up for the world.

They cloud go with the name Dedication, I dont see why People gets upset by The Groups name I love every song Phil and Lizzy did, even if he is dead, It doesn't mean the music ended with him.

well if it was anything like what it once was like I would completely agree with you....then it would be a tribute... but the Sykes/Gorham thing turns seventies hardrock into some sort of metal..way to loud, with little feel to it.
