In the Philippines, relatives visit the graves of their loved ones, offering flowers, food, and holding picnics, to mark All Saints Day.

  • in our family, when we had wakes, relatives from the province arrived.i mean its like 40 people+ so we had to prepare food.coz they came days before the burial, you wouldnt want to starve them!so we had to prepare many food you dont want them to eat biscuits the whole week.thats how close we Filipinos are.its really just how one look at things!if you always think bad of others and interpret their ways wrongly even if their intention is good.its ur problem!

  • i mean if im the dead person,i would not want them to mourn all day long every year.i want them to be happy always.and being with a huge family gathering is always a celebration.Filipinos are just fun loving and very family oriented.its really understandable foreigners saying things because they dont know anything.maybe they dont have that strong family bond.

  • who say it disrespectful eating at the cemetery! just common sense, if u stay at one place for a very long time what more if its overnight, you really have to bring food. its not practical to eat at the nearby restaurants or food chain every meal, moreover, its inconvenient since thousands and thousand of people are there, its like a riot!people from other country can never really understand this coz they are not raised with very strong family ties like Filipinos even death cant erase that tie!

  • it also serves as a reunion for the huge family(typical pinoy) where you get to hang out with extended family as well.how can it be disrespectful when you come to remember your departed love ones?bring them flowers and candles and prayers.you would not want to cry the whole day and overnight.ofcourse we go to the church, but cemetery iswhere we hang out!

  • You should read about, "All Soul's Day" in the Philippines. It is not at all disrespectful in their culture to be paying a visit to their deceased loved one and partying, celebrating beside their grave.

  • going to church thats lil disrespectful from my point of view

  • It's not awkward for any of them because, All Saints Day is basically a remembrance to all those who have died. What''s a better way to remember someone other than having supper at their grave.

  • a little occward picnis in the cemitorey litterly :/
