it was an honor to get that compliment... it sounded so cool i had to react :) I also use my son as an indicator if i did well... bec if he recognizes the characters, and if he squeals and wants to hold them , i know i did a good job! i have no doubt you will too. the desire to please our kids will enable us to make the most fantastic things :)

thanks! 'raw talent' sounded so cool haha..it made me smile :) It will really add up --investment wise-- especially when you are starting to accumulate stuff for fondant and gumpaste use-- but for me, it was all initially my tool to destress and relax... it was ultimately worth having a sane mind haha...when you get to use these materials over and over, they pay for themselves too. :)

Lol...I always smile when I hear your little one making him/her self heard! How you do all you do with a baby I'll never know but please don't stop...you are soo gifted!

Mayen I love the cakes you make ,especially the way you incorporate a theme for you cakes.I have two questions I hope you can answer...1# When you are creating your cakes how much of a factor does the taste of the cake play for you?I read from so many sites that fondant doesn't taste as good as butter cream but as your cakes demonstrate, fondant is so beautiful.2# I'm going to start the Wilton decorating course many because your talent has inspired me so much..are you completely self taught?

Hi there :) taste is a major factor-- i had to do many tries to find recipes i really like, i learned to make the swiss buttercream too. for fondant, it gets a bad rep bec the more widely available fondant - wilton's- is the least tasty of the bunch. besides, people have a different expectation of fondant bec it is always compared to buttercream. marshmallow fondant is the most 'familiar' taste , hence the more accepted taste.

And good luck with your wilton class! i wanted to take one before but my baby kinda tied me to the house :) so I call myself 'youtube taught' cause technically i am not self taught... mimzywhimzy, seriouscakes, aine2,tonedna1 among others--were my teachers

Hi guys! I had to remove a couple of comments here from someone stating that i am a "liar" -- because it is impossible for someone who had injuries to have made these. WHEW-- after my recovery, i dare not subject my shoulders to extensive kneading--hence the MIXER!!! But hey, instead of saying-- good job on making the best of what you got... some people would rather say--tsk tsk "she must be lying" ... well, if that makes you feel better about yourself.....
