This video was made to show the difference between the energy used, and the energy gained.
Two 12 volt 10AH batteries don't have enough energy to drive the 120 volt 1200 watt transformer. Which is connected to a high voltage capacitor in parallel with an 8mm spark gap.
However when you short the capacitor battery and coil for 1 microsecond, over 200 volts ends up in the capacitor. That 200 volts contains more then enough energy to drive the 1200 watt transformer, charging the capacitor and causing a high power high voltage discharge.
