Little Evey had to go to the vet this past week because he has been coughing. I took this video to show the vet, who said kitty is in perfect health otherwise. So, we're going to do some "watchful waiting" to see how the condition progresses - it may be asthma (!). Hopefully he gets better soon!

  • my cat was doing just the same. They had xrays taken and bubbles came up in xray. They said" over time she would get worst and she passed away. Because it turned into cancer. She lived for 11years and 8 mounths.

  • I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. My sincere sympathies. I recently brought a new 5 month old cat into my home and my older cat (turning 3 soon), no longer has coughing symptoms! The vet thinks that the coughing was stress related. My cat has always been very social, so it's possible that the coughing was stress-related (i.e., a reaction to being alone during the day). It's definitely an odd explanation, but like I said, this coughing has stopped altogether.

  • it's time to get this cat taken to the vet, can't you tell he's sick or something is wrong with him

  • I actually just took him to the vet - it's actually why I took the video - so I could show the vet what has been going on. The vet ruled out hairballs (he's a shorthaired cat and I've only ever seen one hairball). He also took Evan's temperature, listened to his heart and lungs, did a history and everything is normal. For now, I'm doing some "watchful waiting" because the cat is otherwise in perfectly good health - he's playful, eats, etc. completely normally. Thanks for the concern though!

  • Oh, and the vet is checking back in with me in a couple of weeks - if the condition doesn't change, I'm going to go ahead with some testing (i.e., chest x-ray to confirm feline asthma, which there are meds for, just like for humans).

  • My cat sometimes coughs like that just before throwing up a furball, but it looks like you've ruled that out already. Hope it's nothing serious. I would keep it inside and out of drafts though.

  • My cat has been doing the same thing, i thought maybe she was allergic to the christmas tree, thats when it started but we thre it out and shes still coughing. When i pick her up as well and put he down she coughs.

Im worried, im going to take her to the vet this saturday, hope you cat gets better, looks like asthma, mine too
