New Orleans in the FLESH! Greatest city in the world. WHY? Because it doesn't pretend to be something that it's not. Live music, alcohol, great food. PERIOD. Don't go there to site see or shop; go there to eat, drink & be merry...
@pedgerton Thank you for saying so. I've been involved in my school's jazz band for years now, and played in high school jazz collaboration groups, so I've really developed an appreciation for artists that may want to play something in a different style. I've heard "Fly Me to the Moon" in bossa nova, and I've heard it in big band, and it's awesome either way!
@bobsonny I'm sorry. I felt bad after sending you that message. I teach midddle school jazz band and I encourage my students to go on to youtube to listen to jazz musicians and play along with them. You raise a valid point. You're cool!
They are one of the first brazz bands in America not even the world, so not too many came before them, think they are establish in 1867, from Mobile, Alabama.
@harrison58 If you spent time in New Orleans in the years before Katrina then
go back NOW, that's all N.O. does anymore is "pretend to be something its not".
600,000 African American New Orleans natives & long time residents were
SHUT OUT of homes they had lived in for generations and forced to LEAVE.
Amongst that 600,000 were some of the greatest musicians in the world, and
the city has been "gentrified" so they can't come back.
Try to find ALL BLACK N.O. bands now. THEY ARE GONE. TRAGIC!

@pedgerton I apologize. I just dislike it when someone rips apart a group for playing a song different than he or she may enjoy it.
