My idea would be that the human organism is a machine, a programmable machine, so mind control would be the practice of programming a person so thoroughly and controlling their world in such a way that they would do your bidding.

Most mind control is trauma induced mind control. For example the clinical creation of MPD (multiple personality disorder) in children. This was done as a part of the MKULTRA mind control program.
